How Much Memory Can I Buy?
02/28/2008
When people get ready to upgrade a computer’s memory, the first question asked is how much can be bought. Unfortunately, the answer is not clear-cut since upgrades differ from manufacturer to manufacturer and computer to computer. To give you an example of what we mean, we will look at memory for Toshiba hard drives. As a leader in the world of technology, this company now offers a long list of computers, upgrades, and accessories. Let us say you decided to purchase a Libretto computer. The computer itself comes with an initial 32 megabytes of non-removable memory. However, by upgrading with Libretto memory, you can increase this capacity to a maximum of 64 megabytes.
Another Toshiba computer example would be the DynaPad. In this case, the computer offers four megabytes of non-removable memory but using a DynaPad memory upgrade, which requires the 88pin JEIDA DRAM card, you can push the capacity to 20 megabytes. Finally, consider the T4400C computer. Available in DX and SX models, this computer also comes with standard, four megabytes of non-removable memory, which is upgradeable to a maximum of 36 megabytes using T4400C memory. No matter which manufacturer you choose or the model you like, know that upgrades can take an already great computer, enhancing its performance. Memory options to include LaserWriter memory, NetVectra memory, and Business memory are also fine examples.
